A 26-year-old Tampa man was arrested Thursday for road rage that caused a fatal automobile accident in April, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Randy Rafael Johnson of 16103 W. Rambling Vine Drive was driving a 2008 Nissan Xterra west on State Road 580, just west of Southern Brook Bend, when he tried to pass a 1998 Nissan Frontier, troopers said.
Johnson's SUV hit the rear of 61-year-old Mujralie Beharry's pickup, sending it spinning off the road and into a sidewalk railing that pierced the car and hit Beharry, troopers said. The Frontier continued down an embankment, hit a chain-link fence and stopped in a ditch. Beharry, of Gibsonton, died at Tampa General Hospital.
Johnson was charged with vehicular homicide because witnesses told troopers he was driving aggressively and acted out of road rage.
Johnson was taken to Pinellas County Jail. He left after posting $2,500 bail.
