CLEARWATER - A 41-year-old woman who was in-line skating home from work was wounded with birdshot this morning in a drive-by shooting, Clearwater police said.
Her name is not being printed because no one has been arrested.
The woman was skating home to Dunedin from her job at a liquor store in Treasure Island, said Elizabeth Daly-Watts, Clearwater's public safety spokeswoman. Dunedin is close to 20
miles from Treasure Island.
About 4 a.m., she was in the area of Chestnut Street and Bay Avenue in Clearwater when a Cadillac pulled alongside. Someone in the car spoke to her and then shot her, Daly-Watts said.
The woman, who was shot in the lower body, was found on a sidewalk and transported to Bayfront Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Daly-Watts said.
The Cadillac is an older model four-door car, light colored, Daly-Watts said.
Anyone with information should call the Clearwater Police Department's tip line, (727) 562-4422.
