TALLAHASSEE - A Tallahassee judge has ordered the ballots sealed in a disputed Palm Beach judicial election as the facts of what happened continued to emerge.
Leon County Circuit Judge Charles Francis sealed the ballots Friday as the ever-fluctuationg number of ballots cast in the election changed again.
Candidate William Abramson was ahead 17 votes on election night, which triggered a recount. During that recount, 3,500 ballots appeared to go missing and the incumbent candidate, Circuit Judge Richard Wennet, was ahead by 60 votes.
On Friday, officials announced they had sorted out the missing votes but by late afternoon had more votes than had been recorded on election night.
Lawyers for Abramson on Friday asked the court to recount all the ballots that have now been found. There's a question about whether the court has that authority, however, since one recount has already been performed, a lawyer for Wennet, Gerald Richman, said Saturday.
