CLEARWATER - A 41-year-old woman who was inline skating home from work was wounded with birdshot early Friday morning in a drive-by shooting, Clearwater police said.
Her name is not being published because no one was arrested.
The woman was skating home to Dunedin from her job at a liquor store in Treasure Island, said Elizabeth Daly-Watts, Clearwater's public safety spokeswoman.
Dunedin is close to 20 miles from Treasure Island.
About 4 a.m., the woman was in the vicinity of Chestnut Street and Bay Avenue in Clearwater when a Cadillac pulled up alongside.
Someone in the car spoke to her and then shot her, Daly-Watts said.
The woman, who was shot in the lower body, was found on a sidewalk and taken to St. Petersburg's Bayfront Medical Center with serious but not life-threatening injuries, Daly-Watts said.
The Cadillac was an older model, light-colored, four-door car, she said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Clearwater police tip line at (727) 562-4422.
