ST. PETERSBURG - Dixie Hollins' strong defense made the difference in a tight game, forcing Northeast into a pair of critical errors, while Curtis Fisher scored on a 10-yard reception from Jesse Hevia to give Dixie Hollins a 14-7 victory against Northeast on Friday night.
Dixie Hollins capitalized on a Northeast fumble in the second quarter that gave the Rebels possession on the Northeast 40-yard line. After gaining 35 yards on two plays, Jacob Bellman opened the scoring on a 5-yard touchdown run.
Northeast answered right back, as quarterback Ryan Moore, under heavy pressure from Dixie Hollins' pass rush, found Marquel Hubbard for a 40-yard touchdown pass with 20 seconds to play in the half.
Another turnover led to Dixie Hollins' second score, and it proved to be decisive. After its defense held Northeast deep in its own territory, the Rebels blocked a punt, recovering the ball at the Vikings 14-yard line. Hevia then found Fisher for a 10-yard touchdown pass, and its defense then held the Vikings offense to close out the game.

TARPON SPRINGS - TJ Herman intercepted a Chris Winiecki pass with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter to seal the game, while senior running back Derek Hunter ran twenty times for 73 yards and one touchdown to lead East Lake to victory.

After the Eagles tried to recover the ball for a touchdown, it went out of the end zone for a safety, and an 11-10 lead for the Eagles.
East Lake quarterback Sam Shaffer backed Hunter in the rushing game with five carries for 68 yards, including runs of 30 and 27 yards. St. Petersburg junior running back Malik Wilson ran nine times for 108 yards and the Green Devils' lone touchdown.

CLEARWATER 8,
OSCEOLA 0
SEMINOLE - A scoreless, first-half defensive battle was broken by a spectacular kickoff return and gutsy special teams follow-up to give Clearwater victory against Osceola, capped by a late, wind-driven deluge in Warrior Stadium.
After two quarters of cat-and-mouse play with both teams' defenses holding for the offensive fumbles, overthrown passes, and losses on downs, Clearwater running back Tarrence Jackson ran the third quarter kickoff back 95 yards for a Tornado touchdown. Despite a 15-yard penalty for Jackson's celebration of the play, Clearwater made good on their 2-point conversion when quarterback Nick Gimbrone faked the hold for kicker Colin DeMauro and made an 18-yard dash to the end zone.
Despite running back Edwin McKinney rushing for just over 110 yards, and several pass plays including a 60-yard connection to wide receiver Renard Rowe, quarterback Dylan Lantz couldn't bring the Warriors into the end zone, and they begin their season at 0-2.
