NEW PORT RICHEY - A man accused of killing his wife and stabbing her son in July could face the death penalty if he's convicted of first-degree murder.
Prosecutors filed paperwork Friday indicating they intend to pursue death for Orane Glen Ferguson.
Ferguson, 29, is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 35-year-old Lenora
Ferguson and with attempted murder in the stabbing of her son, Gabriel Neal.
Neal, 16, survived stab wounds to his chest, mouth, hand and back. After the July 20 attack, Neal called the ordeal a "horror movie."
Authorities said Ferguson and his wife of three years got into an argument and a fist fight over food inside their Land O' Lakes home. When Lenora Ferguson told her son to call 911, Neal went into the kitchen and grabbed a knife. Orane Ferguson followed and also grabbed a knife, investigators said.
Lenora Ferguson ran into the bathroom and shut the door. Investigators said Orane Ferguson kicked in the door and stabbed her. When Neal tried to intervene, Ferguson turned the knife on him.
