ST. PETERSBURG - A Seminole man was arrested early today after he fatally stabbed another man Monday night after an argument that might have been over a woman, Pinellas sheriff's officials said.

Abel Jimenez-Totis, 23, of 11475 76th Ave., was charged with murder in the death of Bernabi Giron-Gomez, 26, official said.

Witnesses told investigators Jimenez-Totis and Giron-Gomez knew each other because both worked at the same restaurant at John's Pass Village, sheriff's officials said. At about 4 p.m. Monday, the two were involved in a shoving match, which was broken up, witnesses told investigators.

Between 8 and 9 p.m., Jimenez-Totis drove to 6551 40th Ave. N., where Giron-Gomez lived, sheriff's officials said. Jimenez-Totis confronted Giron-Gomez outside and began stabbing Giron-Gomez as Giron-Gomez tried to run away, sheriff's officials said.

After stabbing Giron-Gomez multiple times, Jimenez-Totis ran off, sheriff's officials said. Giron-Gomez was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he died just after 11 p.m., authorities said.

Using a description provided by witnesses, patrol deputies found Jimenez-Totis' car in Madeira Beach and tracked him back to his home, where he was arrested, authorities said. Detectives also recovered a knife thought to have been used in the stabbing.
