WESLEY CHAPEL - The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is investigating apparent burglaries to the concession stands serving the Wesley Chapel District Park on Boyette Road.
The burglaries were discovered Sunday by members of the Wesley Chapel Athletic Association.
The thieves struck three concession stands at the park run by the Wesley Chapel Athletic Association.
"They were stocked," said Deanna Sourk, community liaison for the WCAA. The association hosts athletic events at the county park.
The sheriff's office said the burglaries occurred between 5 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.
Association members reported the burglaries after they arrived to open the concession stands for Sunday's sports events, Sourk said.
The level-style handles on the concession stands' doors were broken, sheriff's officials said.
Missing from the stands were about $1,500 in packaged snack foods, $25 in cash and a $50 first aid bag. The inside of the concession stands weren't ransacked and no equipment was disturbed, sheriff's office reports stated.
Sourk said the association is looking for information about who might have committed the break-ins.
The association plans to repair the doors and add better locks, Sourk said.
With athletic events scheduled for the weekend, Sourk said the association plans to replace the missing materials.
"We're going to try our best to get everything up and running," Sourk said.
