Timothy Baker was drunk and had cocaine in his pocket when he broke into a boat business and tried to drive away with a $100,000 boat and trailer, an arrest report states.
A Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputy saw Baker, 32, driving away from Alafia Marine in Gibsonton about 10:13 p.m. Tuesday after he broke in by cutting a chain on the front gate, according to an arrest report affidavit.
When the deputy turned on his emergency lights and siren, Baker tried to get away -- making a sharp right turn and losing control of his pickup -- and crashed into a ditch, the report states.
He tried to flee on foot but was captured a few hundred feet away.
Baker, who lives in Tampa, was charged with burglary, grand theft, being a habitual traffic offender, possession of cocaine, driving under the influence of alcohol and damaging property, refusing to submit to an alcohol test and driving with a suspended license.
He was taken to Orient Road Jail. Bail was set at $32,250 bail.
