Margaret Cho's show isn't for the prudish: "It's really dirty," she says. "I can't believe it when I perform it. I'm going to be 40. I'm a dirty old lady."

TAMPA - Comedian Margaret Cho may be known for jokes, but she was all business the week before her stop in Tampa.

Prior to bringing the funny to the Bay area, Cho was on her way to Atlanta to begin filming Lifetime Channel's dramatic comedy "Drop Dead Diva." And this summer, Cho returned to series television for the first time in 10 years with the debut of the scripted reality series "The Cho Show" on VH1. It follows Cho and her eccentric entourage.

"It's wonderful. It's certainly living the dream," Cho said. "It's never too late to do anything. I'm really blessed and very lucky, but everybody has the potential to do what they want."

Cho brings her new one-woman tour, "Beautiful," to Carol Morsani Hall at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center on Thursday.

Consider this a warning. The show, which revolves around the theme of, well, beauty, is raunchy, Cho said. "It's really dirty," she said. "I can't believe it when I perform it. I'm going to be 40. I'm a dirty old lady. To me, that's my sense of humor. It's the way I talk to my friends. To me, it's funny."

Apparently showgoers thought it was funny, too. Thanks to its success, "Beautiful," which kicked off in the spring, was recently extended through the fall.

"I think it's a great show. I think it's one of my best. For me, it's a very exciting thing," Cho said. "I took a little over a year to write it, and I was anxious to get back to this touring."

Opening for Cho is Liam Sullivan, who has garnered Internet success for his comedy sketch of Kelly, a stereotypical teen blonde. Cho discovered Sullivan nearly two years ago after watching his online video, "Shoes." The two have worked together ever since.

"It's awesome," Sullivan said before performing a solo gig in Pittsburgh. "I love going out and seeing people all over the country who are into what I do. It's really flattering.

"It feels pretty good on stage. The response has been wild."

Margaret Cho's "Beautiful Tour"; 8 p.m. Thursday; $28.50 to $48.50; Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center; 1010 MacInnes Place, Tampa; (813) 229-7827
