TAMPA - During the past five football seasons, Hillsborough has owned Chamberlain. Friday night, the Chiefs took back ownership of the rivalry.

In those five consecutive Hillsborough victories, the Terriers had outscored the Chiefs 133-28. This time, it was Chamberlain pouring on the points.

The nationally ranked Chiefs defeated Hillsborough 48-21 Friday at Chelo Huerta Field, serving notice to the rest of the county that they are definitely one of the top teams.

"They've had this thing over us mentally," Chamberlain coach Billy Turner said. "We shook it off this week at practice, and we shook it off tonight."

Chiefs quarterback Dontae Aycock ran at will against Hillsborough, which had no answer for Chamberlain's triple-option offense. Aycock led his team with 147 rushing yards and four touchdowns. He also threw for another score.

"Dontae is just a magician with the option, because they didn't know who had the ball," Turner said. "It's an offense that fits our personnel."

A messy first half by both teams resulted in six turnovers, four of them by Hillsborough. Chamberlain was able to capitalize on two of those turnovers to take a 27-14 halftime lead.

Aycock accounted for two of those first-half turnovers, including a fumble on the Chiefs' first possession of the game. He atoned for his mistakes by leading the Chiefs on an 80-yard scoring drive, capped by his 13-yard touchdown run.

Aycock also added a 38-yard run just before the end of the second quarter that set up first-and-goal from Chamberlain's 2. He punched it into the end zone three plays later.

Hillsborough's Lindsey Lamar kept the Terriers in the game with 94 first-half rushing yards, which included a 26-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Lamar, who led the Terriers with 126 rushing yards and one touchdown, was shaken up later in that quarter on a play that resulted in some pushing and shoving between the teams. Hillsborough offensive lineman Chris Platts was ejected from the game for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Hillsborough led off the second half with another fumble on its first possession. Chamberlain turned that into another seven points when running back Kenny Allen, who had 133 rushing yards, ran 6 yards into the end zone.

"We shot ourselves in the foot against a great football team," Hillsborough coach Earl Garcia said. "They're as talented a Chamberlain team as I've ever played against.

"If you turn the ball over five times against an outstanding team, you're going to get embarrassed."
