MANATEE COUNTY - A 74-year-old Manatee County man was sentenced Friday to nearly 20 years in federal prison for his role in a drug trafficking organization.
Miguel Rendon, authorities say, took a lead role in a ring that imported cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana between the late 1990s and 2006 from Texas to Manatee County, federal investigators said.
Rendon was a "high-level member" of the trafficking organization that helped provide financing for the drug shipments, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a release.
The judge also ordered Rendon to pay $3.3 million in restitution and the government took over Rendon's part ownership of $1 million in local property.
