VERO BEACH - A 10-foot-long boa constrictor slithering south on a busy road in the middle of the night was nabbed by authorities.
An animal control officer was called at 2 a.m. Thursday about a python in the road.
When officer Bruce Dangerfield arrived, he realized it was a boa, not a python.
Dangerfield said the snake was likely a pet that got too big and was released into the wild by its owner.
The officer said he would hold the snake for five days and if no one claims it, he would try to find it a home.
As a last resort, the snake will be euthanized.
Boas are among the most popular snakes sold in pet stores.
