WESLEY CHAPEL - Opening day is Friday for Cobb Theatres' 16-screen cinema at The Grove at Wesley Chapel.
Officials with Alabama-based Cobb said this week their opening date is firm. Two weeks ago, they offered Sept. 20 as a possible opening day, even as work continued on the site near Oakley Boulevard and Old Pasco Road.
The theater, a first for central Pasco County, will include a CineBistro restaurant and bar under the same roof, a first for Cobb.
The company has a similar combination in Miami, but the theater and restaurant take up separate spaces in the same mall, company officials said recently.
Along with sit-down service, the CineBistro will serve meals to visitors in adults-only balconies. The balconies feature wide leather seats with fold-down armrests where visitors can dine.
Theater officials will host an invitation-only lunch for county commissioners, economic development officials and other dignitaries Thursday to showcase the new restaurant, Cobb spokeswoman Kristen Biance said.
CineBistro's menu, created by chef Alan Lake, ranges from Japanese and Mediterranean food to pasta, meatloaf and burgers.
Prices will range from $9 for a 1-pound plate of chicken wings to $24 for pan-seared red snapper and sauteed shiitake mushrooms.
The menu and other information about The Grove 16 and CineBistro is available at www.cobbcinebistro.com.
The theater's opening day movie selections are still being sorted out, Biance said this week.
