WHO'S HOT
Chamberlain - Billy Turner's Chiefs are 3-0 for the first time since 1999; that year, Hillsborough halted Chamberlain's 5-0 start, but that won't happen this season.
Plant City - Jason Strunk's Raiders may not be winning pretty, but they're winning nonetheless; that's two straight wins following a season-opening loss.
Jesuit - The Tigers have been impressive early and are 3-0 for the first time since 2005, Coach Joe Ross' first season.
Berkeley Prep - Dominick Ciao's Bucs have won two straight following a season-opening loss, and they're doing it with defense; Berkeley Prep has posted consecutive shutouts.
WHO'S NOT
Leto - That season-opening win is a thing of the past, and the road doesn't get any easier with Alonso up next for the Falcons, who have lost two straight.
King - After scoring three touchdowns in a season-opening win, the Lions offense has managed only two touchdowns combined in the last two games, both losses.
Durant - The Cougars offense put up 25 points in a season-opening win, but since has managed only nine points combined in consecutive losses.
Middleton - The Tigers' last two opponents - Chamberlain and Plant - certainly aren't slouches, but the losses have been lopsided.
THE STREAK ENDS
How personal was Friday night's game for Chamberlain? Considering that Hillsborough had won five consecutive contests, the Chiefs' victory was very personal. That was never more evident than late in the fourth quarter with Chamberlain ahead 48-21. On the Terriers' ensuing possession after the Chiefs scored for the final time, Chamberlain defenders sacked Hillsborough quarterback Tarean Austin for an 8-yard loss. After the play, a Chamberlain assistant coach yelled out, "Take that, Earl Garcia," referring to Hillsborough's head coach.
BY THE NUMBERS
0: Turnovers by Hillsborough in its first two games, both wins. The Terriers had five turnovers in Friday's loss to Chamberlain.
1: Touchdowns allowed by Armwood's defense through the first three games.
2: Times in Aaron Murray's career he has thrown for seven touchdowns in a game. In addition to Friday's feat against Middleton, the Plant senior quarterback did so last season against Robinson.
6: Number of carries for 10 yards or more Friday for Mitchell running back Ricky Trinidad, who ran for 140 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries in a victory over River Ridge.
