TRILBY - An 80-year-old woman is in critical condition at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa after a three-vehicle wreck at U.S. 301 and Trilby Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The wreck happened 7:45 p.m. Sunday.
Alice Richardson Neish of Zephyrhills was traveling north on U.S. 301 when, for unknown reasons, she veered into the southbound lanes, the highway patrol said. She was critically injured after her 2008 Chevrolet Cavalier struck a 1997 Buick before getting broadsided by a 2008 Nissan.
The driver of the Cavalier, Maricela Benites-Rodriguez, 31, of San Antonio, was taken to St. Joseph's with serious injuries, as were the Nissan's driver, Michael Hernandez, 50, of Wesley Chapel, and his passengers, Darlene Lugo-Hernandez, 44, and Jonathan Hernandez, 11.
The highway patrol was investigating. The victims' conditions were unavailable today.
