BRADENTON - It's unlikely this applicant is going to get the job.
A Bradenton woman was arrested Saturday after she went to a restaurant to apply for a job, then stole cigarettes and prescription drugs from one of the employees who tried to help her, authorities say.
According to a Bradenton Police report, the woman went to the Applebee's at 4301 Cortez Road W. to seek employment about 5 p.m. Saturday.
While waiting, she asked a waitress for a cigarette, and the employee told the woman to just take one from the bin where employee purses are kept.
Shortly after, an employee noticed a pack of smokes and two prescription pill bottles were missing from her purse.
Deputies were called, and they arrested Stephanie D. Miley, 24, of the 3900 block of 75th Street West in Bradenton, was arrested for theft and possession of a controlled substance.
The pills were the painkiller oxycodone; Miley admitted to the theft after she was arrested, the report said.
