A 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed early this morning in Polk County when he apparently lost control of his bike on U.S. 27 north of Sand Mine Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Authorities identified the cyclist as Jessie William Zahn Jr. of Clermont.
According to a news release, the motorcyclist was northbound in the outside lane about 2:50 a.m., and "for unknown reasons," the motorcycle turned over onto its left side and slit off onto the road's east shoulder. He was ejected and died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, the release said.
