Manatee, Sarasota Nonprofit Agencies Join Storm Loan List

The U.S. Small Business Administration said today that private nonprofit organizations affected by Tropical Storm Fay in August have until Oct. 23 to file disaster loan applications for damages from the storm.

The SBA also said today that it has added Sarasota and Manatee counties to the program

Counties where agencies are eligible for both physical and economic injury disaster loans from the SBA are Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Brevard, Calhoun, Clay, Collier, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gadsden, Glades, Gulf, Hamilton, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Jefferson, Lake, Leon, Liberty, Marion, Manatee, Martin, Monroe, Nassau, Palm Beach, Okeechobee, Osceola, Putnam, Saint Lucie, Saint Johns, Sarasota, Seminole, Suwannee, Taylor, Union, Volusia and Wakulla.

Private nonprofit organizations in the counties of Bay, Broward, Charlotte, Citrus, Columbia, De Soto, Franklin, Gilchrist, Hillsborough, Indiana River, Jackson, Lafayette, Lee, Levy, Madison, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Orange, Polk and Sumter are eligible to apply only for economic injury disaster loans.

The SBA says in a written announcement that organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets. Interest rates are as low as 4 percent with terms up to 30 years. Loan amounts and terms are set by the SBA and are based on each applicant's financial condition.

Disaster loan information and application forms may be obtained by calling the SBA's customer service center at 1-800-659-2955 (1-800-877-8339 for the hearing-impaired) from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
