2 Tampa Men, 17-Year-Old Charged In Car Burglary

TAMPA - Two Tampa men and a teen tried to break in to a vehicle Sunday night to steal electronics they could sell at Plant High School, Tampa police said.

Officers charged Anthony Jose Sosa, 20, Brock Robert Ryan, 17, and Pedro Rivera, 18, with felonies, police said.

On Sunday, officers spotted a Ford Focus with its headlights off on Rome Avenue. Two people were in the Ford.

Officers approached it and saw a third person trying the door handle of a car parked in front of 8408 N. Rome Ave. That person had an unidentified object in his hand, officers say.

When officers approached that person, he got into the front passenger side of the Ford, trying to hide as the vehicle left the area with its headlights off, police said.

Officers stopped the Ford and found several flashlights and screwdrivers inside the car.

The two men and the teen had been "looking for small electronic devices such as iPods, cell phones and other electronics to sell at Plant High School," police said.

"This is the first incident that we've had where suspects were looking to steal and later sell electronics at Plant High School," police spokeswoman Janelle McGregor said.

Rivera was charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy to commit auto burglary, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Web site. He is being held in Orient Road Jail, with bail set at $5,000.

Sosa was charged with attempted burglary of an unoccupied structure, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy to commit auto burglary, the sheriff's Web site said. He also is being held in the Orient Road Jail, with bail set at $4,000.

Details on Ryan were not available because he is a juvenile.
