TAMPA - Forecasters are saying Tampa residents may see something Thursday morning not viewed since May 27: a thermometer reading lower than 70 degrees.
Slightly cooler and drier air filtering down the state could push morning temperatures a tad below 70 degrees starting Thursday morning and possibly lasting into the weekend.
The National Weather Service forecast isn't calling for temperatures to be much lower than 70 on Thursday, reaching the high 60s around Tampa, but it has been almost four months since the temperature at Tampa International Airport dropped below 70, when it was 67 degrees.
On Friday and Saturday, the morning lows could be in the middle 60s around Hillsborough County.
Up in Hernando County, the morning lows on Friday and Saturday could be down to the low 60s.
It won't last as things start warming by Sunday morning.
There's still enough moisture in the atmosphere to produce chances of fog in the mornings, even if low temperatures stay higher than 70.
