TAMPA - A hearing-impaired pedestrian who was the victim of a hit-and-run accident Saturday morning has died, Hillsborough County deputies say.

Wendy Irene Anthony, 43, was walking on County Road 579 north of Sligh Avenue when she was hit by a pickup. She was found about 7:24 a.m. Saturday and taken to Tampa General Hospital.

She died at 9:35 p.m. Monday, deputies say.

Evidence found at the scene indicates the vehicle is a Dodge Ram, 1994 to 2001, with damage to its right front, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said. Carter declined to say what the evidence is.

Anthony's family declined to comment today. Her mother said the death is a private matter.

No witnesses have stepped forward, Carter said.
