Man Found Dead In Intracoastal Waterway Identified

CLEARWATER - The man who was found dead Tuesday afternoon, face down in the water in the Intracoastal Waterway, at the west end of the Memorial Causeway Bridge, has been identified as Taylor Ryan Jones, 25, Clearwater police said.

Jones, of 27 Heilwood St., No. 6, had been shot in the upper body, and family members have told investigators he had a history of threatening suicide, said Joelle Castelli, a spokeswoman for the city of Clearwater. One family member is missing a firearm from his home.

Clearwater police were searching the area today for the gun, Castelli said. The body was discovered just off shore, in an area of large boulders, she said.

The death is considered suspicious, but it has not been ruled a homicide, she said.
