A Tampa man shook 9-month-old boy on Sept. 13, resulting in symptoms consistent with shaken-baby syndrome, said Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter.
The child went limp when Angel Ramos-Otero shook him and later was taken to Tampa General Hospital, Carter said. The child remains in the hospital, she said.
Deputies arrested Ramos-Otero, 26, on Tuesday night at 2224 N. Falkenburg Road. He was charged with aggravated child abuse.
He remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail had not been set.
Ramos-Otero is the boyfriend of the child's caregiver, and the shaking occurred where the boy lives, Carter said.
