TAMPA - State investigators are examining 3,066 gasoline price-gouging complaints, the state attorney general's office said this morning.
Hillsborough County had the second-highest number of complaints: 275.
Duval County had the most: 285.
There are 182 complaints from Pasco County under review, and 170 complaints have come from Pinellas County.
Pump prices in Florida and elsewhere surged after Hurricane Ike ripped through Texas and shut down 20 percent of the nation's oil-refining capacity.
Under the state's price-gouging law, violators could be fined up to $25,000 a day.
