ST. PETERSBURG - Surrealism and fashion came together Tuesday in the spirit of Salvador Dali at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.
A $60 luncheon and fashion show featured dresses from Ambria's Gallery of Wearable Art and a Dali-inspired collection by Ivanka Ska's House of Ska.
It was all arranged to raise money for a $35 million building that will be double the size of the current Dali Museum.
Also part of the event: a "surreal cocktail" (pomegranate juice and vanilla Absolut), silent and live auctions, and two women dressed as "Dali's Dollies" selling tickets to a drawing.
The Dali Museum will break ground this fall on a waterfront building downtown, adjacent to the Mahaffey Theater. The building is scheduled to open at the end of 2010.
