Tyler Perry may be a successful director, playwright and actor, but he knows what it's like to be hungry.
Perry, who grew up as the poor son of a carpenter in New Orleans and was homeless for a time, has donated enough food to feed 1,000 families for two weeks in Atlanta, where he lives now.
He spent part of Tuesday morning unloading and packaging food at the Hosea Feed the Hungry and the Homeless care center, where organizers say a tanking economy has brought more people seeking help.
"I've been out on the street, I know what it's about," said Perry, whose projects include "Tyler Perry's the Family That Preys."
"I couldn't imagine doing that with children looking at me for food," he said.
Perry, 39, stood side by side with volunteers and said he felt pulled to visit the center after hearing about it on the news.
"I had to do something," he said.
Lohan Confirms She's Dating Ronson
Lindsay Lohan has confirmed what the world had guessed: She's been dating Samantha Ronson "a very long time."
The 22-year-old actress casually told the co-host of the syndicated radio program "Loveline" on Monday that she's been dating the 31-year-old DJ. The pair have appeared in public and been photographed together for but have never publicly commented about the extent of their relationship.
"You guys, you and Samantha, have been going out for how long now?" DJ Ted Stryker asked. "Like two years, one year, five months, two months?"
"For a very long time," Lohan said after laughing.
Stryker interviewed Ronson while she took a break from DJing at TV Guide's Emmy afterparty Monday night in Los Angeles. Ronson had been discussing her friendship with DJ AM and Travis Barker, who are recovering from severe burns following a plane crash in South Carolina last weekend, before putting Lohan on the phone.
Memoir Brings Secret Affair To Light
Robert Wagner's marriage to Natalie Wood was known to all. His love affair with Barbara Stanwyck was a secret - until now.
In his new memoir, "Pieces of My Heart," Wagner writes of his four-year romance with the star of such classics as "Stella Dallas" and "Double Indemnity." They met on the set of "Titanic," released in 1953, when he was 22 and she 45.
The press knew nothing about their relationship and neither did most of Hollywood.
"I would say she gave me self-esteem," writes the actor whose successful TV series included "It Takes a Thief" and "Hart to Hart." But the relationship didn't hold. They were both too busy working, and the age difference was too great. Stanwyck broke it off.
"I would always have been Mr. Stanwyck," Wagner, now 78, writes, "and we both knew it."
