NEW PORT RICHEY - Bay News 9 viewers on the Bright House cable system might notice some changes by next month with the scheduled departure from the airwaves of longtime Pasco reporter Michelle Kay.
Kay will remain with the company, but in a Bright House Networks job instead of as a reporter.
Kay will remain based in the area and continue to make appearances at Pasco charitable functions.
For example, she will serve as master of ceremonies for the inaugural Music Fest on Sunday. The event will raise funds for The Angelus, a home just east of Hudson for people with severe disabilities.
She also works the comedy club circuit.
Kay describes her new responsibilities as an "exciting new job, just for a different part of the company."
Meanwhile, Bright House is advertising a job opening for a reporter in its Pasco County bureau. Bay News 9 operates seven bureaus, including the Pasco operation based in the Bright House storefront at the Southgate shopping center in New Port Richey.
Officials with Bright House, which owns Bay News 9, did not respond to questions about reasons for the changes.
