Authorities are searching for the driver who struck a teenager riding a bicycle and then kept going.
The hit-and-run happened on Fruitville Road near Honore Avenue in Sarasota just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Florida Highway Patrol said 14-year-old Trey Parrish was riding his bike on the shoulder of the road when he swerved into the path of a gray car and was hit. Authorities searched for the vehicle but did not find it. They have not identified the vehicle's make or model.
The teenager was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center in serious condition, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
