SEX AND THE CITY **½
Picking up three years after the end of the HBO series, this big-screen expansion follows an even more bumpy phase in the endless courtship of Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Big (Chris Noth), with ancillary domestic dramas for the other ladies (Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis). But all of that is just window dressing for the fantastic fashions.

RUN FATBOY RUN
A pressing question: Why would the incandescent Thandie Newton consider getting back together with lumpy loser Simon Pegg, who ditched her pregnant self at the altar, regardless of whether he manages to run a marathon like her apparently dashing new love, played by ... Hank Azaria. But hey, it's a step up from "Norbit."

LEATHERHEADS **
On one side of the scales of cinema justice, you have director-star George Clooney, our very own Cary Grant facsimile, and John Krasinski, aka Jim from "The Office," and what wouldn't you do for him? But then on the other side you put the squinty, starved Renee Zellweger, and you wonder: charming or cloyingly cutesy? Fans will want to check it out.
PG-13, 114 minutes
DECEPTION
The Hitchcock-via-Showtime title may be vague, but it gives a pretty good indication of this film's intent, which is to sex up a thriller about secret societies and decadent corporate types. Ewan McGregor plays a lonely accountant who falls in with the much more sophisticated Hugh Jackman, following him into a world of anonymous trysts.

2008 OLYMPICS: BEIJING 2008 COMPLETE OPENING CEREMONY
For those who couldn't make it through the whole four hours without an ill-timed bathroom break, or who missed out on seeing their country in the parade of nations due to an unfortunate commercial interruption (and the mysteries of the Chinese alphabet), this two-disc set will enable you to relive every moment.

CASHMERE MAFIA - THE COMPLETE SERIES
This show sounds a lot like "Lipstick Jungle," and both sound a lot like their obvious inspiration, "Sex and the City," so here's a little primer. Beneath the glamorous-girl-buddies-with-fabulous-yet-trying-careers-and-lives veneer, this is the one that does not star Brooke Shields and will not be coming back for a second season.
