A Largo elementary school teacher was arrested Wednesday, accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenager, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
Alyson Perry Jarvis, 36, of 504 Sheridan Drive, Palm Harbor, was charged with one count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. She was being held on $50,000 bail at Pinellas County Jail.
Detectives say Jarvis, a third-grade teacher at Southern Oaks Elementary School, met the teen through neighborhood and family connections in 2005, when he was 15. Their sexual relationship spanned July 2006 to August 2008, detectives said.
The teen, whose name was not released by authorities, told detectives Friday about his relationship with Jarvis, the sheriff's office said.
Jarvis won't be paid while in jail, said Pinellas County School District spokeswoman Andrea Zahn. If Jarvis posts bail, she will be placed on paid leave while the district conducts an investigation, Zahn said. Jarvis was hired in 2002.
