TAMPA - Tampa Fire Rescue will unveil its latest training tool Friday – a $200,000 live-fire simulator building.
The two-story metal prefabricated structure was set up at the Tampa Fire Academy, 116 S. 34th St.
The first class will be at 10:30 a.m.
Fire Chief Dennis Jones said the building was needed to maintain Tampa Fire Rescue's certification with the Florida State Fire College. Previously, Tampa firefighters had to travel to Pinellas or Citrus counties for the training.
"It was necessary for Tampa Fire Rescue to make this investment so that we can provide the best training possible for our current firefighters and for generations to come," he said.
