Winter Haven Woman Charged In Mother's Death

A Winter Haven woman is accused of killing her mother. Police arrested Latesha Brokenshire on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded to a home on Ninth Street Northwest in Winter Haven just after 8 a.m. Wednesday. Inside the home, they found the body of 59-year-old Bonnie Hart. Detectives have not said how she died but said physical evidence inside the home led them to believe it was a homicide.
Brokenshire, 40, is charged with first-degree murder and is being held with no bail set at Central County Jail in Bartow. She is scheduled to appear before a judge at 1 p.m. at the Polk County Courthouse.
