The Polk County Sheriff's Office wants to talk to two men who were at a Mulberry convenience store Thursday afternoon about the shooting and attempted robbery of another man at a nearby home.
The 22-year-old victim told deputies he was at a friend's home when a newer-model white Jeep Liberty pulled up with two men inside. One approached the victim, demanded money and then fired a small handgun, wounding the victim in the left leg, deputies said. The two men then fled in the Jeep Liberty.
The victim, who TBO.com is not identifying because suspects are still at large, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where deputies said he is listed in stable condition.
The victim said he had left the Prima Convenience Store, 6980 State Road 60 W., shortly before the crime, deputies said. Deputies were called shortly before 5:30 p.m.
A surveillance camera at the store captured images of the men deputies wish to talk with. The sheriff's office released the images this morning.
