Lakeland - A train struck and killed a man who authorities said was lying on the tracks this morning.
The eastbound CSX train ran over the man on the tracks just north of Farmer Brown Road, and parallel to U.S. 92, at about 8:30 a.m., the Polk County Sheriff's Office said. The man was killed instantly.
Deputies are investigating and trying to identify the man. The railroad crossings at Fish Hatchery Road and Reynolds Road have been closed.
