NEW PORT RICHEY - A 13-year-old student at Schwettman Educational Center was charged with battery Friday after being accused of punching a teacher, New Port Richey police said.
The incident occurred at 1:20 p.m. Friday after the student became disruptive in class and was asked to go to another room to cool down, police said.
As the teacher was taking the student to another room, the student punched the teacher, police said.
Schwettman Education Center, 5520 Grand Blvd., serves students who have been removed from their assigned school because of disruptive behavior.
Deputies Say Man Climbed In Bed With Teen
ZEPHYRHILLS - A Zephyrhills man was charged Friday with attempted involuntary sexual battery after the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said he climbed into bed with a 16-year-old girl.
Scott Lee Driggers, 43, of 8531 Semmes St., was arrested at his home shortly before 5 p.m. after fleeing the house where the incident occurred, according to the Pasco Sheriff's Office.
The victim and her family told deputies Driggers appeared to be drunk when he climbed into bed with the girl at about 2 a.m. Friday, and began fondling her.
After he was discovered in the girl's bedroom, Driggers got into an argument with her parents before leaving the home on his bicycle, deputies said.
Driggers was being held today at the Land O' Lakes Jail with bail set at $50,000.
