TAMPA - An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 people browsed through the photographs, paintings, sculpture, ceramics and other artwork on display Saturday at the Hyde Park Village Art Fair.
The open-air display is free and continues today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1622 Snow Ave. The fair features $15 million in artwork for sale from $25 hand-designed earrings and $50 prints to sculptures for thousands of dollars, organizers said.
Pinellas Park artist Clayton Swartz was one of roughly 150 artists exhibiting their work. Swartz crafts sculptures of sea life such as spadefish, crabs, stingrays, jellyfish, grouper, tarpon and redfish from aluminum strips and coats them with automotive paint for a durable finish.
"I use a lot of translucent colors, which really pop in the sunlight," he said.
Swartz has exhibited at the show at least a half-dozen times. "It's a great setting here in Hyde Park," he said.
