PALM HARBOR - A 33-year-old Wesley Chapel man was killed this morning after he lost control of his 2004 Suzuki motorcycle on a curve on Keene Road and struck a utility pole, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
William M. Schreiner was riding at a high rate of speed before the 12:16 a.m. wreck near Country Woods Lane, the patrol said. He was wearing his helmet.
Schreiner was riding north on Keene Road and lost control on a curve turning toward the right, rode across a grass median and went into the southbound lanes, where the motorcycle struck a curb and then a utility pole, the patrol said. The impact with the utility pole deflected Schreiner and the motorcycle back into the southbound lanes, with the motorcycle landing on Schreiner, the patrol said.
The results of alcohol-related tests are pending, the patrol said.
