TAMPA - Police say that when they arrived at 8110 N. Edison Ave. just after 2 a.m. today, a woman who had fallen off her bicycle told them she just wanted to go home.
However, she was too drunk to ride, police say.
There was another reason Rebecca Sue Martin, 27, wasn't allowed to bike away, police say.
The bike? Not hers, she told police, according to a report. Neither was the fishing gear or basket found next to the bike.
According to the report: an off-duty officer approached the investigating officers and told them he saw Martin come out of the gated yard at 8110 N. Edison. Police say they went to the backyard and discovered an open shed. In the back driveway was a television, a vacuum and other items stacked on a lawn mower, the report says.
When police woke up homeowner Adele Kumakey, they were told the items were not supposed to be in the driveway.
Kumakey identified the bike, fishing gear, basket and items in the driveway as hers, the report says.
The value of the property taken was approximately $560, the report says.
Martin, of 8306 N. 12th St., was charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and grand theft. Before being booked, Martin was taken to a local hospital because of her intoxicated state and the injuries received when she fell off the bike, according to the report.
After her arrest, Martin told police she recently got out of rehab and has a pill problem.
She is being held at the Orient Road Jail. Bail was set at $9,500.
