Unregistered Hillsborough Sex Offender Charged

TAMPA - A homeless sex offender who failed to register in Hillsborough County was seen Saturday afternoon fondling a 12-year-old girl, deputies say.

Deputies arrested Ezequiel Santiago, 34, at 2701 W. Waters Ave. on Sunday afternoon.

"Apparently he goes over to the pool area at the apartment complex where she lives, and he had bought her some beer and some food in the past," Hillsborough County sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

Santiago was charged with lewd and lascivious molestation and failure to register as a sex offender.

He remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail was set at $9,500.
