Liquidation Ahead For Insolvent MD Medicare Choice

TAMPA - A Leon County Circuit Court judge placed a Tampa-based Medicare Advantage plan with 16,000 members into receivership for the purpose of liquidation late Monday night.

Policyholders in MD Medicare Choice will be switched Wednesday to Humana policies that provide similar benefits, Judge P. Kevin Davey named the state Department of Financial Services the receiver effective 11:59 tonight It will work with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Humana to provide replacement services.

MD Medicare Choice was financially insolvent and had no cash flow, Davey said.
