TAMPA - Police say that when they arrived at 8110 N. Edison Ave. just after 2 a.m. Monday, a woman who had fallen off her bicycle told them she just wanted to go home.
However, she was too drunk to ride, police say. There was another reason police didn't let Rebecca Sue Martin, 27, pedal away.
The bike? Not hers, she told them, a report said. Neither was the fishing gear nor basket found next to the bike.
According to the report, an off-duty officer approached the investigating officers and told them he saw Martin come out of the gated yard at 8110 N. Edison Ave. Police say they went to the backyard and discovered an open shed. In the back driveway was a TV, a vacuum and other items stacked on a lawn mower.
When police woke homeowner Adele Kumakey, they were told the items were not supposed to be in the driveway. Kumakey identified the bike, fishing gear, basket and items in the driveway as hers, the report says.
Martin, of 8306 N. 12th St., was charged with burglary and grand theft. Before being booked, Martin was taken to a hospital, the report said. She was being held at Orient Road Jail. Bail was set at $9,500.
