Sgt. William E. Hasenflu

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. - The military says it is investigating the death of a 101st Airborne Division soldier serving in Afghanistan.

The Defense Department said Tuesday that 38-year-old Sgt. William E. Hasenflu of Bradenton died Sunday in the Jaji District after his unit was ambushed by enemy forces.

Hasenflu was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team at Fort Campbell.
