ST. PETERSBURG - A man was arrested Wednesday night after authorities say he stabbed a neighbor with a hunting knife following a fight in a mobile home park.
James Edward Hudspeth, 49, was charged with attempted murder and burglary. He was being held without bail at the Pinellas County Jail.
Hudspeth and Gary Travers, 61, got into a fight between their trailers at the Royal Poinciana mobile home park, 1650 Seventh Ave. N., about 8 p.m., police said.
Travers first cut Hudspeth, St. Petersburg police spokesman George Kajtsa said.
Hudspeth then went into his trailer, retrieved a hunting knife and went into Travers' trailer, where he stabbed him multiple times in the upper body, Kajtsa said.
Travers survived his wounds. Hudspeth was transported to an area hospital before he was booked into the jail.
Both men had been drinking heavily, Kajtsa said.
It could not be determined why Hudspeth was charged while Travers was not.
