The aqua blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico are visible from the crest of the bridge leading into Indian Rocks Beach.

A welcome sight after driving horrid Ulmerton Road to get here.

Indian Rocks is the typical beach community. Hotels, condominiums and beach bungalows mix well. Restaurants are good and plentiful. Parking is fairly abundant, and some of it's free.

Many of the side roads going west off Gulf Boulevard that lead to the beach have a half dozen or so public parking spaces. A few more spaces are reserved for locals, and a parking permit is required.

Other side streets are pedestrian thoroughfares for locals, visitors or those forced to park on the other side of Gulf Boulevard. Larger parking lots are found at the southern and northern ends of the city.

The largest lot is located across from Guppy's on the Beach Grill & Bar, one of several fine restaurants found along this stretch of beach living.

With a Key West flair, Guppy's offers excellent seafood in a casual atmosphere. Or try Thai Pan Alley, located a short distance north, for unrivaled Thai food.

For the perfect ending to a meal, take a short stroll to the shore to enjoy a sunset.
