KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster has sued a Florida locksmith company accused of deceiving and overcharging customers in Kansas City.
Koster filed the suit Thursday.
Koster said in a news release that Dependable Locks Inc. violated Missouri law by fraudulently advertising itself by at least 16 different names that all led consumers to one company. Some of the addresses listed for the business led to vacant lots and homes of people not associated with the company.
The release also said that company workers charged consumers two to three times more than the prices quoted.
Koster said the suit seeks to "stop Dependable Locks Inc. from defrauding customers and to make restitution to them."
