JACKSONVILLE - Several days of heavy rainfall has saturated northern Florida from the Panhandle to Jacksonville.
State Department of Emergency Management officials are inspecting flood damage in the northwest part of the state.
They've said the damage is severe enough to qualify for federal assistance. The governor's office would have to request that funding from the White House.
Roads across the region remain closed due to flooding from drainage basins and overflowing creeks. Water also pooled in parking lots and sidewalks.
Rainfall totals ranged from 6 inches to 10 inches from Pensacola to Jacksonville.
The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings as a line of severe thunderstorms passed over northeastern Florida early Friday. No damage was reported.
