I have to agree with all the restrictions being placed on Tampa and Hillsborough residents in regards to watering their lawns.
I have not even watered my lawn in over two years now trying to do my part. Needless to say I have no lawn now, just weeds.
The only thing I have not seen mentioned are the gardens most people have in their backyards. I spent three days getting my 15 x 15-foot plot ready for spring planting weeks ago. I now have a healthy garden with at least 12 types of vegetables in it.
I will not let this backbreaking, sweating work in the hot sun go for naught. My yard can suffer; I can't eat my weeds. But I will enjoy and eat the fruits and vegetables of my labor. And it cannot survive with once-a-week watering!
I do a lot to conserve water, probably more than others. But I draw the line at my garden. I will not let it die.
And to those who say that I cannot water my garden to keep it from dying, I say to you, go jump into the Bill Young Reservoir, head first.
