For the Michigan State Spartans, there really is no place like home.
Just ask Connecticut.
Playing 90 miles from their East Lansing campus, the Spartans gave a state desperately needing something to rally around just that Saturday, beating UConn 82-73 at Ford Field in Detroit to advance to Monday night's NCAA championship game.
Michigan State's opponent will be the North Carolina Tar Heels, who ended Villanova's run with an 83-69 victory in the nightcap.
UNC beat Michigan State 98-63 on Dec. 3 at Ford Field.
