TAMPA - Hillsborough County deputies have arrested two men they say participated in armed robberies in Thonotosassa and Seffner.
In one of the robberies, deputies say, the men used a semi-automatic gun to rob people of about $1,800 outside the victims' Thonotosassa home, and one of the men also fired a shot toward the victims while leaving the scene.
Deputies arrested Jose Valle, 22, of Tampa, and Selvin Zelaya-Flores, 22, of Dade City, on Monday at Fowler Avenue and Interstate 275.
On March 27, deputies say, Valle pointed a gun at people while Zelaya-Flores took their money. Valle fired the shot toward the victims after getting into a vehicle and starting to leave the scene, an arrest affidavit states. The victims identified Valle and Zelaya-Flores in a photo lineup.
On Friday morning, Valle, Zelaya-Flores and an unidentified male pointed a gun at a person in Seffner, deputies say. The trio is accused of taking the victim's cell phone and rings, as well as $80 in cash.
Zelaya-Flores implicated Valle in Friday's incident, and Valle was identified by the victim in a photo lineup, according to an arrest report. Zelaya-Flores, who was wearing one of the victim's rings when he was arrested, told deputies he had been "participating in multiple robberies," the report states.
Charges against Valle include: armed robbery, grand theft, aggravated assault and armed burglary. He also was arrested on a warrant for robbery-home invasion.
Charges against Zelaya-Flores include robbery, grand theft and armed burglary.
Valle and Zelaya-Flores remained in Orient Road Jail today. Their bail hasn't been set.
